Story behind the song
When I was in a jazz band we used to jam to a similar tune, it was one of my favorites and it had to be redone digitally. When DAETONA heard the instrumental he said he wanted to spit on it. He came back to the studio later that week with only one verse, he wrote the other two verses and spit them all that day, the chorus was co written by me. Check out the solo on the boards at the end of the track it’s sicker than Sars. “DIVERSE IS TOP A TOP”
Lyrics
DAETONA and DIVERSE met around January 2002,when DIVERSE was hired by General Motors Canada to make two full-length commercials. Eager to make his first big client happy he called a local talent agency in search of an artist capable of getting the job done right. When he was introduced to GIZMO aka. DAETONA he gave him the idea of writing the track in the first person as if he were the car telling the story. Two days later DAETONA came to the studio with one of the best lyrics DIVERSE has ever heard (GRAND AM GT). Since then they’ve worked together on many projects including this hit single FUNK U, and there will be many more to come in the near future.
